1 year old!

We made it to a year!  How did this happen so quickly?  The past year has without a doubt been the best year of our lives.  I will do a post on the party soon!

Here are some of the things that have been going on in our world...

  • Jack is a full time walker now!  I still can't believe it sometimes when I watch him wander the house on two legs.  He is the most adorable little walker and is so proud of himself.
  • Jack can now say mama, dada, ball, dog, all done, uh oh, bye, and has even said "pop" a couple of times :)
  • He loves playing peekaboo still and is constantly peaking around corners and furniture with the sweetest little smirk on his face.
  • He gives the biggest hugs and HUGE wet kisses on command.
  • Some favorite toys include his little people farm and tractor, anything on wheels, balls of any sort!
  • Jack has learned to make car noises when pushing around his cars.
  • He has everyone in his daycare class saying "Yummmmm" after every bite of food.  He does it at home and decided it would be fun to teach his friends ;)
  • Crawling under mom and dad's legs and behind our backs while we are sitting on the floor leaned up against the couch is also a favorite.  He circles around and around and does it continuously.
  • The pups are jack's favorite source of entertainment at the moment. He loves to watch them play and giggles any time they play with each other. He also enjoys tackling them (supervised, of course) and giving them big hugs.
  • Sleeping is going great! Jack typically goes to bed between 7:30-8:00 every night and usually sleeps until around 6:30.  This morning he slept until 7:30, which was a nice surprise.
  • Bath time is still a favorite and now Jack has realized that it is fun to stick his head under the faucet while it is running and tries to walk around the tub instead of sitting.  It isn't relaxing for mom and dad but he is having a blast!
  • Jack got a teepee for his birthday and it is a HUGE hit. He loves sitting inside and playing with his toys.  We added some lights for Christmas.
  • Music and dancing!  Jack loves any type of music and dances often by turning from side to side and shaking his arms and head.  It is one of my favorite things to watch him do.  He has a globe toy that plays music from each continent and when you press them the music changes.  Jack will throw it on the floor over and over changing the music and dancing to each song.
Here are some recent pictures of our guy! I will put up party photos soon!

Zoo

For our 7th wedding anniversary, Jack and I both had off of work, so we decided to celebrate with our little guy with a fun trip to the zoo in Richmond. We all had a great time and the baby was very intrigued by all of the animals. He loved watching the monkeys jump around and even got to touch a giraffe!

I think we will make it a yearly tradition to take him every year around our anniversary.  Such a fun way to celebrate!

Jack's First Year

I figured I would just join together Jack's 11 and 12 month post since we are only 2 weeks away! I will be posting that soon.  In the meantime... here is a video I worked on of Jack's first year with us. So bittersweet watching it all. Hope you enjoy :)

The video will not play on a mobile device because I used songs that have a copyright agreement and Youtube won't allow it... so enjoy on a computer :)

Jack's first Halloween

We spent last week enjoying Jack's first Halloween and all of this gorgeous, crisp Fall weather.  Jack loved wearing his Viking costume and hanging out in the front yard watching all of the "big kids" trick or treat.

Standing up like such a big boy!

Learning Something New

It seems like Jack is learning something new every day now.  He FINALLY realized how to move forward in his walker this morning, and he thinks it is hilarious to chase the dogs around the house.  He also now says "uh oh", which I love. He says it constantly.

Moments to remember

This weekend we had two exciting new things happen in our house!

Jack started saying the word "Ball", when prompted.  He definitely has a favorite toy and I think it is adorable.  We can tell he is trying to say "Dog" or "doggy" but we aren't quite there yet.  It is so adorable to see him watch our mouths and then try and repeat back to us.

Jack also started shaking his head "yes".  It all started when I was asking if he wanted more to eat, we have been working on sign language so I was doing the sign and saying more, Jack started shaking his head and smiling at me.  At first, I didn't realize he knew what it meant, but now he shakes his head when ever we ask him if he wants more and has done it a few other appropriate times.

Shaking his head "no" is also still a favorite and he is very head strong.  He tends to shake his head at me during swim lessons when we are about to go under water, and also when we tell him no or take away something that he shouldn't be playing with.
We are having so much fun with Jack right now.  10.5 months is such a great age (although I have said that at every month)

A Vacation and a Wedding!

We had a wonderful vacation a few weeks ago to OBX.  My beautiful sister got married and we spent the week with family in a gorgeous ocean front home.  Here are some pictures from our trip. Jack absolutely loved the beach and enjoyed eating sand and splashing in the ocean. He also took his first trip to an aquarium and had a blast!

Here are several pictures from our trip.
