4 Months!

Another month has gone by and Jack is growing and changing every second!  Long gone are the days of that tiny newborn newness.  Jack is full of personality and is already keeping us on our toes :) Although he has only been in our lives for 4 months so far, I don't remember what life was like without him. He has truly made our lives so much richer and full of love.

At 4 months Jack

...weighs in at 16lbs, 10 ounces. Still topping the charts in the 80-85% for height, weight and head circumference.
...got his 2 bottom teeth!
...started eating cereal shortly after his 4 month birthday. We try and give it to him in the evenings but don't push it on him since he is still young and sometimes just not interested.  He does love it on most occasions and it is so cute to watch him eat from a spoon!
...is still wearing 6 month clothes with a little bit of room. I have stocked up on 6-12 month clothes in anticipation for the switch!
...has his hands are still constantly in his mouth and now he has discovered that he can get his feet in his mouth as well so he loves chomping on those toes :)
...ROLLING BOTH WAYS!  Back to front and front to back.  He thinks it is hilarious.
...He coos and babbles all day long. He loves when his dad babbles back to him and they go back and forth. This provides hours of entertainment for everyone in our house.
....smiles constantly!
...is laughing and it is the best thing ever.
... still loves bath time. Kicks his feet and splashes.  Watches jack and I to make sure he has an audience.
...Loves his johnny jump up and we are going to start him with his exersaucer soon because he loves sitting upright and playing.
...is sleeping ok but we have hit a bit of a regression phase and I am anxiously awaiting his return to waking only once to eat.
...naps are improving every day. He is sleeping longer at daycare and at home we have been able to get him in the crib most of the time.  If he is fussing in his crib or bassinet during a nap, all I have to do is put my hand on his chest and he grabs it with both of his hands and pulls me close.  It melts my heart every. time.
...loves listening to his daddy whistle.  Laughs and smiles and will stop eating just to watch him.
...Had his first real sickness this month and it was terrible. He was sick with RSV and I felt so terrible for him.  One of the days we ended up in the ER because his breathing was erratic and making me nervous.  He was so sweet during the entire visit and smiled through his breathing treatments and all of the poking and prodding of the medical staff at the hospital.  After almost 2 weeks, he was feeling much better and is back to normal now.  It was a long road but our tough guy was happy happy happy the whole time!
...He loves his bumbo, watching tv, naps on mommy and daddy, walks in his stroller and any outings where there is a lot of activity going on.

Sick Baby

Well, we knew the day would come eventually, but never thought our little guy would get sick within his first month at daycare!  Last Tuesday morning Jack woke up coughing and had a really stuffy nose.  I took him straight to the pediatrician because I know a coughing baby is nothing to mess around with!  Turns out, little man has RSV, which is a respiratory virus.  To us adults, it would just be a cold, but it is much worse for babies. The doctor told us that we needed to keep him out of daycare for at least a week and let him get lots of rest.  Luckily, I have an amazing job that allows me to work from home, and a sleepy baby means that I had a lot of quiet time to get things done while he slept next to me.  It has been a long week of little sleep at night (partially because I was listening to him breathe and also because he has been waking up congested and coughing). We ended up at St. Mary's on Thursday because his breathing was scaring me a bit.  Turns out he was just extremely stopped up and once he got a breathing treatment he was fine.  Little man smiled through the whole thing. He is the sweetest.  He is definitely still feeling sick but getting better each day.  His smile has not left him at all. I just can't wait for him to feel 100% again.  It has to be so confusing to be sick as a baby and not understand what is happening.

Here are some pictures of our week.

Sleeping next to me on the couch while I got some work done on the day he was diagnosed.

Cuddly boy in the swing

Had to take him to work with me one of the days to get some things done. He slept in my lap for a few hours while I had a very productive afternoon of calls and emails.

Smiling before bed one evening after breathing treatments!

Rolling over and giggling :)

Breaks my heart that he has to do this but he really doesn't mind it at all. I am thinking it feels good and that is why he allows it.

Lots of sleeping happened.

More sleeping on mommy

Hanging with Aunt Jamie on Monday. She babysat and he was all smiles all day long.
