Learning Something New

It seems like Jack is learning something new every day now.  He FINALLY realized how to move forward in his walker this morning, and he thinks it is hilarious to chase the dogs around the house.  He also now says "uh oh", which I love. He says it constantly.

Moments to remember

This weekend we had two exciting new things happen in our house!

Jack started saying the word "Ball", when prompted.  He definitely has a favorite toy and I think it is adorable.  We can tell he is trying to say "Dog" or "doggy" but we aren't quite there yet.  It is so adorable to see him watch our mouths and then try and repeat back to us.

Jack also started shaking his head "yes".  It all started when I was asking if he wanted more to eat, we have been working on sign language so I was doing the sign and saying more, Jack started shaking his head and smiling at me.  At first, I didn't realize he knew what it meant, but now he shakes his head when ever we ask him if he wants more and has done it a few other appropriate times.

Shaking his head "no" is also still a favorite and he is very head strong.  He tends to shake his head at me during swim lessons when we are about to go under water, and also when we tell him no or take away something that he shouldn't be playing with.
We are having so much fun with Jack right now.  10.5 months is such a great age (although I have said that at every month)

A Vacation and a Wedding!

We had a wonderful vacation a few weeks ago to OBX.  My beautiful sister got married and we spent the week with family in a gorgeous ocean front home.  Here are some pictures from our trip. Jack absolutely loved the beach and enjoyed eating sand and splashing in the ocean. He also took his first trip to an aquarium and had a blast!

Here are several pictures from our trip.

10 Months!

Double Digits!  I can't believe it. Here is what little man has been up to...

  • New Foods:  This kid loves to feed himself! Finger foods are a favorite. Macaroni and cheese, cooked peas, green beans, nutrigrain bars, diced peaches and pineapple are all new favorites.
  • Teeth:  still has 8 teeth, but we went to the doctor this week and it turns out little man is starting to get his molars in. Teething has never really been a problem for him, but I can tell these aren't going to be fun.
  • Nicknames: booger, stinker, Jack Jack, Jquad, Baby J, Jackaroo
  • Weight:  22 lbs, 13 oz. at the doctor on 10/8
  • Likes:  Peekaboo, climbing on the dogs, dancing, throwing toys and pacis on the floor and waiting for someone to pick it up for him, swinging, walking (assisted), cuddling.
  • Dislikes:  Diaper changes

Photos are getting harder and harder because Jack is always on the go!
This little guy is fearless, and definitely knows no boundaries.  I’m working on trying to have him understand things like no, ouch, and yucky but for now he thinks it’s all pretty funny. He is into EVERYTHING.

Jack loves to shake his head no and has recently started shaking his head no at me whenever I say "uh uh" or "no".  Then he proceeds to laugh.  It is all fun and games with this kid and we love it.

He’s also really into making noise – banging toys together or beating on his new drum are some of his favorite things. He thinks it is hilarious when we make lots of noise too.  Most evenings you can find the three of us in the floor singing and banging on toys.  The dogs must think we have all gone insane.

Jack also got his first haircut the day before his 10 month birthday!  He looks like such a big boy now.

Jack's first time at the VA State Fair! He loved meeting all of the animals and even got to pet a cow.

His swing is still a big favorite!

That facial expression is one of my favorites :)
